Rooted Tree Specialists Owner Amy Nakai Appointed to NAA Board of Directors
At Rooted Tree Specialists, we don’t just care for trees—we grow leadership, community, and sustainability. Today, we’re thrilled to share some exciting news that reflects those values at their core: our founder and owner, Amy Nakai, has been appointed to the Nebraska Arborists Association (NAA) Board of Directors!
Amy’s selection marks a proud moment not only for our team but for the broader community of certified arborists in Nebraska. Her appointment underscores a commitment to excellence in arboriculture and her dedication to elevating standards and collaboration within the tree care industry.
A Nebraska Arborist Leader Rooted in Service
Since founding Rooted Tree Specialists in 2021, Amy has consistently exemplified what it means to be a leader in the green industry. With a background in middle grades education from Peru State College and years of experience as an operations manager, Amy brings a unique perspective to her work—balancing business strategy, team building, and environmental stewardship.
Her contributions extend beyond the trees. Amy’s community involvement includes organizing tree planting projects, participating in environmental clean-ups, and working closely with groups like the City of Gretna and the Green Industry Perspectives podcast. Her ability to connect people and inspire action is exactly what the NAA Board of Directors needs.
Championing Women in Arboriculture Leadership
Amy is also a passionate advocate for increasing visibility and opportunities for women in arboriculture leadership. Her past work with organizations such as Smile Train demonstrates her commitment to purpose-driven leadership, and her new role with the NAA will allow her to foster even more meaningful industry connections.
In her words, “I want to strengthen the bridge between seasoned arborists and those just entering the field. We all grow stronger when we grow together.”
An Ultra-Endurance Mindset, On and Off the Job
When Amy isn’t overseeing operations at Rooted Tree Specialists or advancing sustainable tree care practices, she’s quite literally going the distance—as an ultra-marathon runner. She’s participated in grueling races like the Moab 240 and the Tahoe 200, embodying the same resilience and drive that she brings to her work and community involvement.
Amy is also a devoted family member, frequently spotted cheering on her children in softball, baseball, cross country, and marching band events. Her life is a balance of grit, growth, and giving back—qualities that make her the ideal representative on the NAA Board.
Growing Together: What’s Next for Amy Nakai and the NAA Board of Directors
As Amy steps into this new role, her focus will be on supporting emerging arborists in Nebraska, promoting certified practices, and strengthening the arboriculture community through education and collaboration. Her journey proves that being “rooted” means more than planting trees—it means building a legacy of leadership and service.
Please join us in congratulating Amy Nakai on her appointment to the NAA Board of Directors. We can’t wait to see the positive changes she’ll continue to inspire—across the industry and throughout our community.
